All over the country there are various types of events in your city that offer gently used children's items for sale. We have been able to get such great items for dirt cheap at these events! If you want ideas of where to buy gently used children's items, I have written another article with some ideas (see it here).
I don't know why more parents don't buy gently used items. All you have to do is clean up the items when you get home, but they are such a good price and in such good condition... I don't really have a problem doing that. Check out this adorable adirondack rocking chair we bought from Salvation Army (original price $60, SA price was $25):
There of course are certain items I will never buy used... like items that are severely stained, too hard to really clean, or items like underwear/bras. But other items like clothing, toys, high chairs, I will never buy retail!
Here are the awesome finds I bought at our local even Just Between Friends yesterday:
V-Tech Fly & Learn Globe, Original price: $160, Used price: $5.
Radio Flyer Trike Original price: $70, Used price: $10
Step 2 Fun Fold Slide Original price: $99, Used price: $25
Yep, I totally agree with you! Kids grow out of stuff so fast. Might as well save money! Visiting from #fellowshipFriday.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment Kristen! They really do grow so fast... to buy everything new when there are perfectly good gently used items just seems silly to me and a waste you know?
DeleteI buy so much second-hand! When it comes to kids toys and clothing, I really can't justify buying it new. Actually, I'm almost done buying little man any more toys for awhile. He would rather play with magazines, books (ok, I'll keep buying book!), and plastic drinking cups. HA! He's already frugal like his momma! ;)

Thanks for the comment Heather! Absolutely, I can't justify it either! You know the majority of things I have found second-hand I actually prefer to what I could've found out on the shelves at a store.
DeleteHa yeah, kids tend to play with everything BUT their toys. My daughter often would rather play with the box the toy came in, rather than her own toys.
I love great things that aren't worth a fortune. That's being wise and practical. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment Lux! I totally agree :D
DeleteWow! Good deals and fun stuff! It is always exciting when you get the best deal ever, how can you not shout it from the rooftops!? :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment Summer! Totally agree :)
